I had a plan. It was weather dependent though and it *had* to be below freezing for it to work. Hilariously, our week for winter break was in the 50s! And so we moved onto plan b. And the funniest part of it all was that we had to come home early because a random snow/ice storm brewed up. The weather was allllll sorts of backwards for my plans but alas… it was still a vacation and I don’t care if we faced weather previously unknown to man as long as I could do it without setting my alarm clock and prepping everyone daily for a 6:30am departure. Ice storm- no problem!
We did some necessary things like getting my oil changed and basement clean-out. We watched Shea take naps ☺️.
We also went to Mystic and Newport. Wr saw the white whales and did virtual reality at the aquarium. We wandered the town that is so familiar and comfortable that we miss it when we don’t visit for too long. We visited Cole’s pride and joy; the Seaport, where he told anyone that would listen that he did the sleep away camp last summer. We also watched Shea trip and perfectly align his head with the edge of the wooden boat and had to go to first aid for ice. We went to Newport and walked the Cliff Walk. We wandered the less visited town (I actually don’t think Shea has been there before) and popped into some pretty shops and rested in the dock. We swam in the hotel pool which was a non-negotiable for the boys. We held court in the pet area of the ferry (sans pet of our own) and dog sat numerous pups when their owners had to step away for a quick second).
In short, we had a really sweet time. Nothing tropical, nothing crazy but everything appreciated and everything really necessary.

Lots of smiles and holding hands, that’s so nice to see and remember.
In between the wrestling matches 😉
