All the spring things

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. The weather is *supposed to be* mild and all the flowers make our familiar settings a little bit prettier even if only for a short time. The baseball gloves come out in full force and many of our evenings include time at a field or two. Schools slowly begins to tuck in and we have concerts and set shows and award ceremonies which give us peeks into the daily occurrences of these kids while they are away. Play moves outside and almost always involves water of some sort. They were asking for water balloons the first day it hit 60 degrees. My birthday and Mother’s Day also fall in this season and it’s always so cute to watch the kids plan something, even if it was an extremely underbaked cake and homemade “things about my mom” posters. Spring break this year sent us in different directions where Cole met an NFL player and had a few seconds of fame on the NY Jets instagram page. Shea and I visited some nearby spots then headed to Brooklyn for the cherry blossoms and Coney Island. Spring also brings ice cream to the forefront of almost every event with that manipulative ice cream truck showing up at every game or practice. I think they know the game schedules better than all of us parents.

Spring is just a nice slow way to introduce summer and a lot of the same feelings and activities but at a pace and temperature to ease us in. It’s also just really really pretty.
