Shea Shea’s special day

I suppose it should be a plural “days”.

This special little love had a few celebrations for the big 4. I wonder though, if I should just list them by his dessert choices.

1. His cute sitter had a “purple paw patrol” party at his request and he got to celebrate with his little friends. Aka vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with purple icing.

2. We met Nana (home for her newest grandchild’s birth) for brunch in a parking lot. We are and Shea opened some of his gifts, including Whaley the beluga whale. Then, it was breakfast dessert time. Aka chocolate paw patrol cupcakes

3. Actual day of the little tail’s birthday. We met my parents for a lovely dinner under the street lights in a different parking lot. Shea requested rice and beans and horchata from one particular place. So specific. I thought it was hilarious. Then we shared a cake and sang and had a candle and all the completely unsafe and messy situations a birthday can bring. Aka blueberry cake (???) with purple whipped cream and sugared blueberries.

4. Mama and Shea’s special day. We ditched work for the day and did some celebrating. We signed up for Pre-k (we can discuss this later when I’m more emotionally stable about the whole thing 🥲🥲), we did a 4 year-old well visit, we got ice cream, we visited goats, we headed to lunch at his chosen place where he fell asleep and proceeded to sleep for 2 hours making lunch dinner and his most precise request of watching a movie with popcorn and candy an appetizer of a sort. Aka all the junk food.

If it were up to me, 4 days aren’t even enough to celebrate this love. He is just the nicest and I love him more every single day. He loves his friends and family hard. He loves purple and Mac n cheese. He says “opie meal” instead of oatmeal and “literally” all the time like he’s all sorts of grown up. He helps me clean up more than anyone else in my house and makes some huge messes too. He is my constant companion but is strong and brave and independent too. He asks if any food is spicy before trying it.. even if it’s something like a fruit or bread. He likes to tell me how cool I look when I wear hats and I love his little compliments. He falls asleep most days while we drive home then stays up later than me at night. He loves to play the “animal game” every time we drive which is an impossible game because his animals never are lacking in imagination… do you know know how to differentiate between a horse and unicorn or a dolphin vs a dark purple dolphin or a dog vs a dog waiting for a treat wearing his collar?? Me either. He is a master at completing puzzles and likes to show off his jumps and dance moves (they sometimes are one in the same). He would love outside most days if it were acceptable for a young boy to, in fact, live outside. He loves his cousins super big and asks to visit them way more often than vacations would even allow. He loves his brother the most of all though and calls him “broyer” and it melts me every time. He loves reading stories and finds one he likes that we read 100 times til he forgets all about it and the cycle starts over. He is simply wonderful and I could go on for days. He deserved each and every celebration at the bare minimum.

My Shea Shea, happy fourth birthday, my love. I hope you felt how loved you are each and every day. These four years have flown by but I love how our special times together freeze into the best memoirs.

I am so lucky. Love you so much.
