Falling out of summer

We’re sitting with one foot in summer and one foot in fall over here.

Soaking up all the beach opportunities, even if it’s after dinner, but also doing all the apple picking and baking apple cider donuts type things in between. I’ve gotten to spend a little bit of one-on-one time with my little Shea Shea while Cole spent some time with his dad and his nana and pop. Shea always makes the plan which makes him a wonderful date. Once he starts picking up the tab, there will be none better. They usually involve a walk and ice cream somehow woven in.

We’ve also done beach walks. Some that start off with the statement “feet only” and end up with both boys soaked and riding home in towels.

We’ve done apple picking and then the obligatory baking with the apples afterward. Cole nailed them cider donuts.

The boys and I also did a tent sleepover in the backyard. It’s so cute how something so little makes them so happy. I mean, we were in the yard but they just loved that night. They tried to get me to do it again but… I’m ok for a while on that.

We visited the pretty rose garden in town and had the place to ourselves minus the statue boy that Shea was quite intrigued by. I think he needs to have a play date. 🤪

We also had a solid week where Cole was interested in basketball so we would go to the courts to practice. We would play horse and pig (I think he made that one up) and Shea would play in the puddles.

The boys also had their first haircuts since, gosh I don’t remember, but definitely not since March. And this was mainly because Cole told me he needed to cut his hair for his Zoom meetings! Childhood is sure looking different this year. But we still snapped the first day of school photo because… of course you do.

School’s been tiring us out so far so we’ve been slightly more homebodyish this past week but that’s really ok sometimes too.

Coming to accept that it really is fall and slowly getting excited for pumpkins and colorful leaves.
